Peta is mostly known for campaigns against factory farming and animal testing, often exposing unsavoury practices through undercover operations. But it also runs a shelter at its headquarters in As mentioned earlier, the concept known as “the meat paradox” describes the cognitive dissonance experienced by people who care about the well-being of animals and also choose to eat them. They believe that animals deserve protection and care, but their actions contribute to the abuse and death of animals. This issue is society-wide. We do hands-on work with companies behind the scenes to persuade the largest names in fashion to ditch clothing made from animals. PETA has also led radical actions against top-tier brands, persuading them to stop using animal-derived materials. This is an exciting time—more so than ever before, people are against wearing animals. PETA's top controversies. People for Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA, is well known for vehemently pursuing their animal rights goals. But sometimes even PETA pushes the envelope too far. Several movements that begin life as a counterculture may, with time, find wider acceptance and become a part of the mainstream culture.
